Kalix – a Dialogue Between Material and Form

Kalix emerges from a dialogue between material and shape. It is composed of 3 mm aluminum plates arranged into a perfect circle, creating the impression of a spatial, open‑form vessel. Yet this object is not a vase in the traditional sense — it merely evokes the archetypal silhouette and offers an elegant spatial solution for contemporary architecture, gardens, parks, or water features. At first glance, it is clear that such a construction cannot function as a real vase; and yet, perhaps precisely because of this, it carries the presence of a beautiful, unusual, almost sculptural artwork. The rounded, refined lines of each plate naturally complement architecture defined by planes and right angles, bringing visual balance and harmony to the space.

The character of Kalix is defined by four elongated ribs extending downward. These form stable legs that allow the object to stand independently on any surface — grass, stone, or wood — without the need for anchoring. Its lower, wider proportions give it a low center of gravity, making it appear stable, calm, and confident.

Kalix is designed to withstand outdoor environments year‑round, regardless of climate or placement. The aluminum‑plate construction and copper‑patinated surface ensure high resistance to moisture, rain, and temperature fluctuations. The material is also tested for use in saline environments, meaning the vase performs reliably near the sea or in areas with increased air salinity. Kalix remains stable, strong, and visually consistent even where ordinary materials quickly succumb to corrosion.

Longevity is a key principle of our work. Thanks to its robust construction and materials that are 99–100% recyclable, Kalix is an object with an exceptionally long lifespan. It does not need to be replaced after a few years, significantly reducing the overall carbon footprint associated with production and transport.
